Etching Ink – Inkjet vs Plotting
At Murrplastik Labelling, we print on to cable tags, cable markers and cable or wire identification labels. We print to your numbers, letters or symbols to your specification using top quality etching ink.. We offer two different approaches to marking our polycarbonate plastic labels and cable markers. These are inkjet printing and plotter technology. Both inkjet printing and the plotting process etch a specialist ink into the polycarbonate plastic label or tag.
At Murrplastik we specialise in cable identification labels, especially labelling for single wire cables. In this article, we will discuss the difference between inkjet and plotter technology printed labels, and highlight the best etching ink for your labelling needs.
Inkjet printed labels
Inkjet printing depends on specific inks being dispersed and drying in the correct place on a surface to create the desired printed image. Therefore, labels intended specifically for inkjet printers should be made with materials that provide a slightly absorbent surface, such as polycarbonate plastic. This helps to guarantee that as much ink as possible dries in the exact place it is required, improving the accuracy and resolution of the finished product.
Here at Murrplastik, we offer photorealistic quality, high printing speed and robust inscription with our inkjet printing labels. We can produce quick drying and long-lasting labelling of single wires and plates made from polycarbonate plastic of the types ELO, ELW and ELG.
Using our large capacity industrial inkjet printer and newly developed etching ink, we produce tough cable identification labels at high speed. Labels are UV, chemical and abrasion resistant. Our inkjet colour labelling service is ideal for logos, quality images and special lettering.
Plotter technology printed labels
Plotter technology printed labels work by moving a pen or other instrument across the surface of a label. This means that plotters are vector graphic devices, rather than raster graphics as with the inkjet printer. Pen plotters can draw complex line art, including text. Our plotter technology is perfect for rapid and high-quality marking of all electric, pneumatic or mechanical components.
Etching Ink
Our newly developed self-etching ink is ideal for permanent and resistant inscription of text, logos and images (wmf format) for cable identification labels. At Murrplastik, we use both inkjet and plotter technology to provide top-quality typeface from the first to the last label.
